At Christmas, good things come in small packages: a bottle of perfume, a diamond ring, or the keys to your first car. This is especially true of Alice Middleton’s Victorian home, a perfectly formed semi-detached cottage a stone’s throw from the beautiful Peak District National Park. ‘I grew up here and have many fond memories of family Christmases over the years, ’ she explains. ‘I remember the house always being full of friends and relatives; it was the centre of many good times and always full of love. When my health took a downturn a few years ago, and I had to give up work and dreams of doing a PhD, it wasn’t such a bad option to move back in here with my parents.’
